Australians more confident than ever in business

Even with the United States and Chinese economies facing a downward tide, Australian businessmen and businesses are more confident than ever in the Australian economy and business environment. The measure that is used to gauge Australian business confidence reached a two-year high in its July reading. The rationale behind the high was improved profits, better employment numbers, and improving sales numbers over the last quarter.

The survey operates by polling more than four hundred Australian businesses. Even though the measure is at a two-year high, it is just about at the long-run level. That means that Australian businesses are about as confident as they are in a neutral environment. The global economy may have other countries in the doldrums, but it looks like Australia is on the way up. After the doomsday predictions of the last two years, it’s a breath of fresh air that Australian businesses are starting to see things returning to normal.
