The RC&A’s goal was to provide restaurant operators with new ideas that would enable them to make their business more environmentally friendly and encourage them to join their program, “The Green Table.”

During this forum, “The Green Table” program was pitched as a program that guides all parties in the food industry to become efficient in their sustainability. A major topic of concern was the food waste that is being produced restaurants. Key note speakers in the forum suggested that only 10% of food currently thrown out in the restaurant industry actually should be; the other 90% can be recycled, composted or reused in other ways.

The Green Table program has taken off to a quick among the Austrian restaurant and dining industry. The information presented at the forum proved to be valuable information and ideas that could actually be put into action and make a difference in the “greenness” of the restaurant industry.
