The Free Price of Information

Google Analytics launched back in 2005 and was met with positive feedback from website owners all over the world who had previously had to either pay thousands for that information or had simply gone without it. Microsoft followed suit by releasing Gatineau in 2007 and from then on it was clear that all the analytical information a business needed to run a successful website was now available, totally free of charge. Now, Yahoo has entered the game by buying IndexTools, a free online website analytical tool that is shaping up to be even more beneficial for business owners.
Google and Microsoft offer similar analytics tools and both are competing on the same level with their AdWords and AdCentre suites respectively. Both Google and Microsoft also offer a product that is suitable for mass market. Yahoo, however, has ensured IndexTools stands on its own, instead of trying to compete, as the best free web analytics tool available to businesses. Prior to Yahoo making a product like IndexTools available for free, a tool like that could have cost businesses over 20% of the budget. Now, with this saving in mind, businesses can use the budget in other areas, such as investing in a seasoned SEO copywriter.
Signing up for a Yahoo IndexTools account isn’t easy. Website owners must still go through a partner reseller process, which comes with certain restrictions. These restrictions include the limited availability on new accounts and a monthly cap on page view volumes.
